Conditioning benchmarks

Ok, so a few more of these:

Dynamics:
  1. The Roll Ups are fine, 50 no probs.
  2. Kick Backs, a great exercise IMHO, 50 each side.
Statics:
  1. Horse Stance: erm, just about managed 1 minute. This needs a lot of work and I can really see how this will benefit me.
  2. Front Stance: just as embarassing, about 1 minute each site. Lots of work needed here.
  3. Balance, worst of all, I almost can't stand there. I managed about 10 seconds each side before my balance was gone. I noticed though that my Hams and very top of calves are very tight.
That's all for now. More to come later.

Hi.

The things you are struggling with are all things that will improve quickly.

Holding stances is more about mind control that strength and endurance. If you watch TV while you are doing these you will hold them for ages because you are distracted. My advice would be to think of something specific, like walking through you Katas/Patterns. It's good to visualize them and it distracts you from the boredom.

The trick with balances is to gaze at a fixed point. Find a spot on the wall, or floor if you're looking down, and gaze at that. Looking at a fixed point makes balance soooo much easier. :)

Keep it up. :)

Cheers
